How long must a foreigner hold a Work Permit before applying for a car loan?

For foreigners who wish to apply for an auto loan in Thailand, most financial institutions require that the applicant has held a Work Permit for at least 1 year.

However, there are certain exceptional cases where a Work Permit of less than 1 years is still acceptable.

For example, one customer had only 1 month of Work Permit history, yet the finance company approved her loan. This was because she had a very high income, worked for a well-established and stable company, and also held a renewable annual employment contract.

By submitting these supporting documents, the bank was able to clearly see her strong repayment capability, which led to a smooth and easy loan approval despite the short Work Permit duration.
